In order to evaluate the thought of Schizophrenics, the authors studied on responses to proverb test on thirty Korean schizophrenics, using twelve Korean proverbs.
The authors adopted the analyzing categories which was-presented by Jchn-D. Ben amin and statistically evaluated, comparing with normal control group.
The following results were obtained.
1. The responses of complete literalness (ML), false abstraction (F! ). and -failure (F) showed marked increase in the schizophrenic group, compared with normal control ore.
2. In the contrary, the responses of generalization from literal (GL), over abstraction;(OA) and tendency to interpret a proverb in terms off another-proverb or figurative phrases (Marl.ed:P. MMMP) were seen much less frequently in the schizophrenic group than normal control one.
3. With the above. finding, it may be concluded that schizophrenics have grave disturbance of conceptual thinking and have the more greater, difficulty in dealing with normal symbols and :.abstractions. :Further. more. detailed investigations for disturbances of thought. of schizophrenics s c ulof he. expected by the simultaneous application of other techniques.
